The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
