The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And the House frequented, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
