He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And he feareth 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
