The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Indeed the Qur'an is a decisive Word. 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
