The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 The Strong; then the Spectacle inclined towards him. 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 So did (Allah) convey the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey. 10 The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 At the farthest lote-tree; 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 Behold, such would be indeed a division most unfair! 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 And to God belongs the First and the Last. 25
