The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
