۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 Moreover, we had no power at all over you: nay, you were people filled with overweening arrogance! 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 And verily, on that Day they all will share in their common suffering. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 for them awaits a known provision, 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 Are we not then to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 then surely they shall return to Hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
