ART THOU NOT aware of how far they who call God's messages in question have lost sight of the truth? 69 Those who reject the Book and the (revelations) with which We sent our messengers: but soon shall they know,- 70 When around their necks will be shackles and chains; they will be dragged. – 71 In boiling water; they will then be ignited* in the fire. (Like fuel – see verse 2:24) 72 Then shall it be said to them: "Where are the (deities) to which ye gave part-worship- 73 side by side with God?" They will answer: "They have forsaken us - or, rather, what we were wont to invoke aforetime did not exist at all!" And they will be told:] "It is thus that God lets the deniers of the truth go astray: 74 (And it will be said): 'That is because you rejoiced on earth in things of which you had no right, and were very happy. 75 Enter Hell now to abide in it. How woeful is the abode of those who wax proud! 76 So be patient [Prophet], for God's promise is true: whether We show you part of what We have promised them in this life, or cause you to die first, it is to Us that they will be recalled. 77 Surely We have sent apostles before you, some of whose account We have related to you, and that of some We have not told you. But no apostle was given a miracle unless God dispensed. But when the decree of God comes the sentence is passed with justice; and the lovers of vice and vanity will then come to grief. 78
