The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
