In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties, 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He; so take Him for a Guardian. 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 Leave those to Me who deny, the lovers of ease and comfort; and bear with them for a while. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 And a Food that chokes, and a Penalty Grievous. 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 Indeed, We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness upon you just as We sent to Pharaoh a messenger. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
