The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 And the following event will come after it. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 then he mustered 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
