Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 therein uplifted couches 13 well arranged goblets, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains - how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
