Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 therein a running fountain, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
