He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to him thou attendest 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 most exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
