So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
