The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
