Joseph (Yousuf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Alif Lam Ra. These are verses from the clear Book. 1 We have sent it down, an Arabic Koran, in order that you understand. 2 In revealing this Quran to you, We tell you the best of the stories of which you were unaware. 3 [Of these stories mention] when Joseph said to his father, "O my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars and the sun and the moon; I saw them prostrating to me." 4 He said, "O my son, do not relate your vision to your brothers or they will contrive against you a plan. Indeed Satan, to man, is a manifest enemy. 5 You shall be chosen by your Lord and He will impart to you some understanding of the inner meaning of events. He will bestow the full measure of His blessings upon you and upon the House of Jacob -- even as He formerly bestowed it in full measure upon your forefathers, Abraham and Isaac. Truly, your Sustainer is all-knowing and wise!" 6
