So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 So set out with your family in a watch of the night, and keep yourself behind them, and no one of you may turn around, and keep going ahead as you have been commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
