The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by those who draw themselves out in ranks 1 and the drivers driving, 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 Lo! thy Lord is surely One; 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything between them; Lord of the Easts. 5 Verily We! We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment: the stars. 6 Protecting them against every wayward devil, 7 They cannot listen to the higher group (angels) for they are pelted from every side. 8 Repulsed, for they are under a perpetual penalty, 9 But if anyone does succeed in snatching a glimpse [of such knowledge], he shall be pursued by a piercing flame. 10 So ask them if they are more difficult to create, or the rest We have created? Indeed (man) We created from fermented clay. 11 Truly dost thou marvel, while they ridicule, 12 And when they are admonished, they receive not admonition. 13 and when they become aware of a [divine] message, they turn it to ridicule 14 and say: “This is nothing but plain sorcery. 15 "What! when we die, and become dust and bones, shall we (then) be raised up (again) 16 “And also our forefathers?” 17 Say: Aye! and you shall be abject. 18 for that [resurrection which they deride] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry - and then, lo! they will begin to see [the truth] 19 and they will say: 'Woe for us. This is the Day of Recompense' 20 [It will be said], "This is the Day of Judgement which you have been denying." 21
