HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 So make obeisance to Allah and serve (Him). ۩ 62
