The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and children living in his presence, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and who still desires more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he thought; 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
