The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And [by] those who remove with ease 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
