The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 Indeed, your efforts are diverse. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 But save him who fears 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
