The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And by those who float in space, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
