The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On a Day whereon secrets shall be out. 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And no trifle. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
