AND WHEN the messengers [of God] came to the house of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
