And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Do not betray me 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 nor a loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
