In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; 11 and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 A fountain there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
