The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
