The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And the House frequented, 4 and the uplifted roof 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" 28
