The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go to the Pharaoh who has become refractory, 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
