The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Verily the torment of thine Lord is sure to befalls 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
