The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 Thereupon We opened the gates of the sky for water to pour down, 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 On an unfortunate day We sent upon them a continuous violent wind 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
