The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And thine inner self purify! 4 and flee from the statues! 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 it will be a hard day 9 and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
