The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 it is not a jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
