The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of a clear Book, the Quran. 1 How strongly the unbelievers will wish that they had been Muslims. 2 (Muhammad), leave them alone to eat and enjoy themselves and let their desires deceive them; they will soon know (the Truth). 3 Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand. 4 No nation can outstrip its term nor can they lag behind. 5 And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW) to whom the Dhikr (the Quran) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man. 6 Why do you not bring down the angels if what you say is true". 7 [Yet] We never send down angels otherwise than in accordance with the [demands of] truth; and [were the angels to appear now,] lo! they [who reject this divine writ] would have no further respite! 8 Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian. 9 We have sent forth before you Messengers among the factions of the ancients. 10 And never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him. 11 This is how We cause the hearts of the guilty ones to behave. 12 They will not believe in it, though they have before them the example of former peoples, 13 And even if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they were to continue ascending thereto, 14 they would still have said: "Surely our eyes have been dazzled; rather, we have been enchanted." 15
