Seest thou one who turns back, 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Does he have any knowledge of the world beyond the ken of sense-perception, and therefore, clearly sees (the Truth)? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 and that nought shall be accounted unto man but what he is striving for; 39 He will certainly see the result of his labor 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 out of a [mere] drop of sperm as it is poured forth, 46 And that [incumbent] upon Him is the next creation 47 and that it is He who gives wealth and riches, 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamood, sparing no one, 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 so that there covered it that which covered. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The (Judgment) ever approaching draws nigh: 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
