Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A company of the former peoples 39 and a good many of later times. 40 The Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 [shadows] neither cooling nor soothing. 44 They were endowed with good things 45 And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! 46 And they used to say: "When we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be resurrected? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times 49 will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day. 50 "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!- 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 And filling with it your bellies 53 and will thereupon have to drink [many a draught] of burning despair 54 drink it as the most insatiably thirsty camels drink!" 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 Have you considered the seed you spill? 58 Is it you that create it or are We the creators? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 from replacing you by others like yourselves or changing your forms and re-creating you in forms that you know nothing of. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 And have you seen that [seed] which you sow? 63 Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 [Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt; 66 Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)". 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder? 69 If We will We can make it bitter, so why do you not give thanks? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
