The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
