But the leaders of his people who denied the truth and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, because We had granted them ease and plenty in their worldly life, said, "This is only a human being like yourselves, he eats what you eat, and drinks what you drink, 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 [Whereupon the prophet] would say: "O my Sustainer! Succour me against their accusation of lying!" 39 Said Allah, “They will soon wake up at morn, regretting.” 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 Then after them We brought forth other generations. 42 No nation can go before its term ends nor stay back. 43 Then sent We Our Messengers successively; whenever its Messenger came to a nation they cried him lies, so We caused some of them to follow others, and We made them as but tales; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 unto Pharaoh and his Council; but they waxed proud, and they were a lofty people, 46 And they said: Shall we put faith in two mortals like ourselves, and whose folk are servile unto us? 47 So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed. 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a miracle and settled them on a high land, quite secure and watered by a spring. 50
