۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 Saying: "It were you who imposed yourselves upon us." 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 “Except our earlier death, and nor will we be punished?” 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is that better by way of hospitality or the Zaqqum tree, 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
