Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In a Garden lofty. 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 nor any food save the filth 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
