Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
