And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
