(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves, 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 Yet surely your Lord is mighty and merciful. 140
