۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 that is how We deal with evil-doers. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 (They will be told), "You will certainly suffer the painful torment 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 Cups of wine will be presented to them in rounds, from a spring flowing in front of them. 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum? 62 Which We have reserved as punishment for evil-doers? 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
