Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 And the moon as she follows in his wake, 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 and the night as it veils it darkly! 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 He will indeed be successful who purifies it, 9 and he who corrupts it is sure to fail. 10 Thamud belied in their exorbitance. 11 when that most hapless wretch from among them rushed forward [to commit his evil deed,] 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they called him a liar and hamstrung her. So God obliterated them for their crime, and (destroyed) all of them alike. 14 and He fears not the issue thereof. 15

God Almighty has spoken the truth.
