A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 "Follow what has been sent down unto you by your Sustainer, and follow no masters other than Him. How seldom do you keep this in mind! 3 How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest. 4 And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!" 5 So We shall question those unto whom a Message was sent, and We shall question the Envoys, 6 So indeed We shall inform them with Our knowledge and We were not absent. 7 The weighing on that Day will be the true weighing: those whose scales are heavy will prosper. 8 And as for those whose scale will be light, they are those who will lose their ownselves (by entering Hell) because they denied and rejected Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 9 And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful. 10
