People of Hijr rejected the Messengers. 80 And We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them. 81 And they used to carve dwellings in the hills, without fear. 82 But the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the morning hour, 83 And all that which they used to earn availed them not. 84 We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness. 85 Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator. 86 And certainly We have given you seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the grand Quran. 87 Cast not thine eyes toward that which We have let classes of them to enjoy; and grieve not over them, and lower thy wing unto the believers. 88 And say: Surely I am the plain warner. 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 [and] who [now] declare this Qur'an to be [a tissue of] falsehoods! 91 Now by thy Lord, We shall surely question them all together 92 about what they did. 93 Preach what you have been commanded to and stay away from the pagans. 94 We suffice thee against the mockers, 95 and believe other things to be equal to God. They will soon know the truth. 96 And assuredly We know that thou straitenest thy breast by that which they say. 97 So hallow thou the praise of thy Lord, and be thou of the prostrate. 98 and worship your Lord until what is certain [death] comes to you. 99
