And Harun (Aaron) indeed had said to them beforehand: "O my people! You are being tried in this, and verily, your Lord is (Allah) the Most Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order." 90 [But] they answered: "By no means shall we cease to worship it until Moses comes back to us!" 91 [Moses] said, "O Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray, 92 Did you disobey my orders?" 93 Harun said: O my mother's son! hold me not by my beard nor by my head, verily I feared that thou wouldst say, thou hast caused a division among the Children of Israel and hast not guarded my word. 94 Moses asked, "Samiri, what were your motives?" 95 He replied: "I saw what they saw not: so I took a handful (of dust) from the footprint of the Messenger, and threw it (into the calf): thus did my soul suggest to me." 96 [Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it into the sea with a blast. 97 Your Allah is only Allah, there is no god but He; He comprehends all things in (His) knowledge. 98 Thus We tell you, (Muhammad), the stories of the past and We have given you the Quran. 99 Whosoever turns away from it, upon the Day of Resurrection He shall bear a fardel, 100 As abiders therein. And vile will it be for them on the Day of Judgment as a load! 101 The Day whereon the trumpet will be blown into, and We shall gather the culprits on that Day blear-eyed, 102 whispering unto one another, "You have spent but ten [days on earth] 103 We know well what they will say when the most upright among them will say: "You did not tarry more than a day." 104
