And most surely this is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 upon your heart (Prophet Muhammad), in order to be one of the warners, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Its news was also mentioned in the ancient Books. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like 'Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 they will not believe in it until they see the grievous punishment. 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 indeed they are debarred from overhearing it. 212 Therefore do not worship another deity along with Allah, for you will be punished. 213 And warn [whomever thou canst reach, beginning with] thy kinsfolk, 214 Lower thy wing to those who follow thee, being believers; 215 If they do not obey you, tell them: "I am not responsible for what you do." 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 And (seeth) thine abasement among those who fall prostrate (in worship). 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, only the wayward follow them. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
